
Joe Motzko played for Bemidji in the 1991 and 1992 Paul Bunyan Tournaments. Motzko was a semi-finalist for Minnesota’s Mr. Hockey Award. He also played for the Omaha Lancers of the USHL, and had a successful career at St. Cloud State of the WCHA. He became SCSU’s number four all-time scorer and was WCHA rookie of the week in 1999. Motzko was a member of the 2001 SCSU WCHA Final Five Champion team. Later he was signed as a free agent with the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2003 and has played for the affiliate Syracuse Crunch where he was one of the top rookie scorers in the AHL. He debuted in the NHL with Columbus on February 2, 2004.
